KOALA Warming System is the first patented conductive, underbody patient warming to prevent perioperative hypothermia. Reusable and energy efficient, KOALA is an affordable “go green” alternative to circulating water and forced air warming systems.
KOALA’s multi-layer reusable mattress straps directly to the OR table to provide effective, conductive warmth from underneath the patient.
Multiple layers include patented conductive carbon polymer for a uniform distribution of warmth. KOALA's memory foam layer provides enhanced support to improve patient circulation and provide enhanced pressure relief.
KOALA utilizes conductive warmth, eliminating risk of infection from airborne dust and contaminants. The reusable mattress contains no water or gel, eliminating leakage and risk of burns.
Significant cost savings is realized when comparing KOALA with disposable warming systems. Cost analysis reveals 50% savings in the cost of disposables in the first year after purchase, 100% savings in subsequent years.
All patients under anesthesia, regardless of age, weight or other factors, are at increased risk of perioperative hypothermia. The combination of cold operating room temperatures and anesthetic-induced inhibition of thermoregulation causes body temperature to drop precipitously during surgery.
Perioperative hypothermia can cause multiple complications, including impaired blood coagulation, increased surgical site infections, delayed wound healing, and increased instance of morbid myocardial outcomes.
While SCIP mandates warming patients during surgeries lasting one hour or more, KOALA makes warming every surgical patient simple and economically feasible.
